About Me

My photo
I am a full-time mama with a passion for writing and talking to fascinating people. I live in a one horse town with a Cowboy and my son. Thank Lord for cyberspace! I lived a colourful life in Sydney for a number of years. Working in advertising and journalism for FPC and the Sydney Morning Herald. During my time in Sydney I competed in a Dragon Boat race, choreographed a dragshow, used the Share Accomodation advertisements as a way to meet men and was told by Noiseworks frontrunner Jon Stevens that I was a bitch! Then came the decision to move back to country for 3 months to help out my Father with newspaper business while he was having treatment. Convinced I was a city girl I was caught by surprise when I fell in love with a farmer (and no, he didn't want a wife... still doesn't it seems!) convinced him that we needed to see the world, popped off to Vietnam to teach english in Saigon - before realising that the "food" in Nam didn't agree with me... turned out to be Monte - my son who is now with the Cowboy and I back in country NSW! I am in a wonderful stage of my life where I am focusing on the things that really make me tick. Including writing these chronicles.

Blogging Movers and Shakers

I have a question for y'all.
Who do you think the movers and shakers in the world of blogging are?
More precisely, in the world of women bloggers? ( I never look at men's blogs - is that just me?!!)
I am writing an article about the Australian Womens Blogosphere and am really hoping to look at some up and coming bloggers to feature.
Any outside Australia is fine too.
Any suggestions of fabo ones would be gratefully received. Yours included!

  1. Just found your blog through another I read and what ho! Lovely timing, I can now indulge in a bit of shameless self-promotion. :)

    P.S. Love your blog! I'm the opposite, I'm a country girl who went to live the party life in the city, and have now found myself a wife and Mum in suburbia. Surprisingly, I've never been happier!

  3. I guess the biggest one around is Dooce (www.dooce.com). Beyond that, I don't know. I find a lot of the more popular ones don't do as much for me, I have my own hidden gems I prefer.

  10. Am I too late?

    * Mia freedman. obviously - www.mamamia.com.au - Though I would comment that her site is not really a blog as she rarely writes and mostly just copies stuff from elsewhere. ie. the opposite of your most brilliant site.

    * Girl with Satchel - is not a mum but her blog means you never have to buy a magazine again girlwithasatchel.com.au. She posts in a variety of ways which is interesting.

    * dooce obviously

    * less well-known or frequent is www.mimismartypants.com (I reckon you'd love her). she's a mum. less frequent blog. no advertising.

    * back in oz - loobylu.com - is another mum blogger.
