About Me

My photo
I am a full-time mama with a passion for writing and talking to fascinating people. I live in a one horse town with a Cowboy and my son. Thank Lord for cyberspace! I lived a colourful life in Sydney for a number of years. Working in advertising and journalism for FPC and the Sydney Morning Herald. During my time in Sydney I competed in a Dragon Boat race, choreographed a dragshow, used the Share Accomodation advertisements as a way to meet men and was told by Noiseworks frontrunner Jon Stevens that I was a bitch! Then came the decision to move back to country for 3 months to help out my Father with newspaper business while he was having treatment. Convinced I was a city girl I was caught by surprise when I fell in love with a farmer (and no, he didn't want a wife... still doesn't it seems!) convinced him that we needed to see the world, popped off to Vietnam to teach english in Saigon - before realising that the "food" in Nam didn't agree with me... turned out to be Monte - my son who is now with the Cowboy and I back in country NSW! I am in a wonderful stage of my life where I am focusing on the things that really make me tick. Including writing these chronicles.

Lots of blogging (not so much jogging..)

I do not know where I'd be within myself now had it not been for the blogosphere!

(perhaps I would be more dedicated to my jogging and working out commitments? No I will continue to blame heat over blogs for that one)

It transports me out of the One Horse Town into other countries , other heads ,out of my dilapidated kitchen (temporary) into other people's non-dilapidated kitchens (reno pics soon), out of my problems headfirst into other peoples.

Blogging also provides me a form of expression that I had been lacking.

The last few nights Cowboy and I have been staying with my parents while our house is being renovated.

This has been great for having more time to potter around in bloggy land - I have had a chance to search cyberspace for more blogs to love and to follow.

I get a real kick out of discovering a newbie that I love. Admittedly there is a fair bit of rubble to scrape through to get there sometimes!!

Today I was the featured Everyday Everybody person on Fat Mum Slim's blog which gave me a buzz! Check it out for amazing insights into curing the hiccups and my vacuuming habits.

But now here are my latest discoveries I hope you will like them too:

Lost and Found in India : I have always been intrigued with all things Indian (could murder a butter chicken right about now, even though it is 10.30am) and it is my grand plan to get there and stay in my friend's holiday cottage in Goa.
Maybe when Monte is a little older...
In the meantime I will immerse myself in all things Indian via the author of this blog Braja Sorensen.
Interesting stuff.

Life as Sooz - This blogger describes herself as a 40s something woman finding her way.
I like her succinct style and she makes me laugh.
She is honest and witty and I just hope that she asks out her Toyboy soon...!

There are a couple of ladies who I follow religiously, daily where I always find a smile:

Quixotic Life - nearly as new as me to this world and obviously a passionate bloggette.
Insightful, funny, honest - regular poster - which I find essential as a disciple. Too long in between posts and I go a-wanderin...

The same could be said for WOAH MAMA!- she cracks me up daily with her dry and honest humour!

I have found a brilliant networking site for writers over at She-writes where I have formed some wonderful Aussie writing alliances including Heather from Verbal Report and can now boast international authors as my friends :-) - have just met an inspiring author Alice Grist whose book High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment is making a splash!

I have interviewed Alice about this book and will post it soon!!!

Of course all the blogs mentioned on my side bar are ones am a loyal disciple of.
I have enjoyed meeting some American gals in the form of Mommi Nani Boo Boo (who is currently on assignment for me - stay tuned) , Think Tank Momma and Six divided by Two.

I have been inspired by others in the UK in the form of Ranting and Rolling who seems to be the bizarro version of my family over here (seriously we are even discussing doing a house swap - and Laura is writing a guest post for me soon - excited!) , have just discovered Nunhead Mum of One also.

If you find any that you think I might like please let me know

My criteria is - honest, funny, insightful, inspiring - not much to ask is it?

Thanks to all those mentioned above and to the side for inspiring me daily.
