About Me

My photo
I am a full-time mama with a passion for writing and talking to fascinating people. I live in a one horse town with a Cowboy and my son. Thank Lord for cyberspace! I lived a colourful life in Sydney for a number of years. Working in advertising and journalism for FPC and the Sydney Morning Herald. During my time in Sydney I competed in a Dragon Boat race, choreographed a dragshow, used the Share Accomodation advertisements as a way to meet men and was told by Noiseworks frontrunner Jon Stevens that I was a bitch! Then came the decision to move back to country for 3 months to help out my Father with newspaper business while he was having treatment. Convinced I was a city girl I was caught by surprise when I fell in love with a farmer (and no, he didn't want a wife... still doesn't it seems!) convinced him that we needed to see the world, popped off to Vietnam to teach english in Saigon - before realising that the "food" in Nam didn't agree with me... turned out to be Monte - my son who is now with the Cowboy and I back in country NSW! I am in a wonderful stage of my life where I am focusing on the things that really make me tick. Including writing these chronicles.

Designing a website : your thoughts required

hi - need your feedback please.
I am in the process of having a website designed. I am very excited about it.
There is a lot to consider though on top of colours and fonts - like functionality and gidgets and gadgets and all of those other words that confuse me
What is your favourite blog / site - in terms of design and functionality?
The prettiest with most useful navigation tools etc?
What appeals to you in website design?
What do you find attractive in a site?
What elements are important?
What elements are annoying?
I'd really appreciate any feedback and would love links to great designs.
Thanks in anticipation
On a more personal note is there any advice / suggestions you could give me on what you would like to see from my blog? More pics from the outback etc , competitions, networking?
Really appreciate any feedback.

  1. Geez, tough question!

Depends on what you want your site to achieve.

I like sites that have a simple layout, not too small writing and are updated regularly. Photos are great.

Easy to navigate through aswell. Something you can log onto, have a quick look to catch the jist of it, then come back later to explore more thoroughly.

    No help whatsoever! :)

  3. hi there. thanks for the comment {sorry for the delay in reply}

    in re to your website

go colours and fonts that are easy to read avoid yellow for headers

size of font shouldnt be too small

oh and dont over crowd {sometimes it fits other times it doesnt..} with gadgets and writting that is in the columns.. and such

but everything else would really depend on your site...
