About Me

My photo
I am a full-time mama with a passion for writing and talking to fascinating people. I live in a one horse town with a Cowboy and my son. Thank Lord for cyberspace! I lived a colourful life in Sydney for a number of years. Working in advertising and journalism for FPC and the Sydney Morning Herald. During my time in Sydney I competed in a Dragon Boat race, choreographed a dragshow, used the Share Accomodation advertisements as a way to meet men and was told by Noiseworks frontrunner Jon Stevens that I was a bitch! Then came the decision to move back to country for 3 months to help out my Father with newspaper business while he was having treatment. Convinced I was a city girl I was caught by surprise when I fell in love with a farmer (and no, he didn't want a wife... still doesn't it seems!) convinced him that we needed to see the world, popped off to Vietnam to teach english in Saigon - before realising that the "food" in Nam didn't agree with me... turned out to be Monte - my son who is now with the Cowboy and I back in country NSW! I am in a wonderful stage of my life where I am focusing on the things that really make me tick. Including writing these chronicles.

A great weekend... and all that Jazz!

So this was our weekend, Cowboy and I's first getaway on our own, since the birth of our 14 month old son.

We drove to Echuca, a touristy little town filled with charisma for the annual Jazz and Wine festival...

We started things off easing our way into relaxation at a cosy little wine bar
 complete with lovely tapas menu...

it didn't take us long to get into the spirit, so we ditched the wine bar and headed to a place where we could drink barrels of wine....

starting to feel chilled out now...

lovely Italiano food complete with jazz band again... we have decided trombones and Harry Connick Jnr songs  are the new ACDC...

and above, why these are the token silly shots... just cos....!

 we had A BALL!!!!

How important it is, particularly as parents, to just get away on your own and remember who you are again minus the responsibility - if only for a couple of days!!

When we got home I was SO excited to see Monte I could not get there quick enough - it was clear he was fine while we were away but also clear that he was glad to see us again!

The best feeling.

A lovely break for us all - and it was lovely that he wanted me to carry him around everywhere when we got home :-)

AND ... just when I thought our homecoming couldn't be any friendlier and happier...

it looked like someone else had missed me aswell...

it's OK Honey, I'm home....

  6. Hi Sharni - so glad you had that time with just you and Cowboy - I know exactly that feeling of having a great time without your baby, then when its over, wanting to see him so very badly! (I have 3 baby boys, though they are well past baby - 15, 14 and 9 years old, but they are always your babies in a way :)
