I am a full-time mama with a passion for writing and talking to fascinating people. I live in a one horse town with a Cowboy and my son. Thank Lord for cyberspace! I lived a colourful life in Sydney for a number of years. Working in advertising and journalism for FPC and the Sydney Morning Herald. During my time in Sydney I competed in a Dragon Boat race, choreographed a dragshow, used the Share Accomodation advertisements as a way to meet men and was told by Noiseworks frontrunner Jon Stevens that I was a bitch! Then came the decision to move back to country for 3 months to help out my Father with newspaper business while he was having treatment. Convinced I was a city girl I was caught by surprise when I fell in love with a farmer (and no, he didn't want a wife... still doesn't it seems!) convinced him that we needed to see the world, popped off to Vietnam to teach english in Saigon - before realising that the "food" in Nam didn't agree with me... turned out to be Monte - my son who is now with the Cowboy and I back in country NSW! I am in a wonderful stage of my life where I am focusing on the things that really make me tick. Including writing these chronicles.

Not so alone in the holy land!

One of my fave things about the internet is how small it makes the world feel.

I love making friends from all over the globe and sharing in their lives.

One of these is a lovely lady by the name of Ramona who lives in Israel.

 Her blog Alone in the Holy Land is a very touching, honest account of her life.

At times, thanks to her raw honesty, her story really touches me and I feel massive empathy for her.

Sometimes when I can see another woman / mother struggling it can be frustrating that all you can do to offer support is in the form of a bloggy comment.

I was so touched this morning to receive an email from Ramona letting me know that she has given me a Sunshine  award!

It is nice to know that from all the way over here in Australia I can connect with and be of some support to a wonderful lady in Israel.

    I don't have words to thank you enough. And I feel priviledged to have met you, honestly. This Sunshine award, it fits you so well, because, for me, you are like a sunshine: sometimes there, where I can see it, and sometimes the thought of it, even hidden by a cloud, cheers me up.

    I agree. You are sunshiny and have shined on a few of my dark days.
    It is really nice to feel supported through the blogosphere. In some ways I feel like the support from afar is more helpful. By showing our support for one another (in good or bad times) through the internet, we really get to see how we are not alone. In those dire moments where one thinks "I am alone in this" it helps immensely to know that women of different races, cultures, and from all over the world feel similarly. There is a collective empathy and connectedness that can be uplifting in the lowest of moments.
